Honey-Glazed Bone-In Ham – Traditional Oven Recipe
Our starting point is the delicious Gustor cooked bone-in ham, specially prepared for us by Breydel.
1.
If the ham is frozen, place it in the refrigerator at least 48 hours in advance to allow it to thaw completely.
2.
Remove the ham from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
3.
Using a sharp knife, make shallow cuts approximately 5 mm deep across the top of the ham (through the rind or directly into the meat where there is no rind).
4.
Insert approximately 10 cloves evenly across the surface of the ham.
5.
Prepare a glaze using:
- 300 ml sugar syrup
- 4 tablespoons honey
You may also add fresh orange juice or a little mustard to suit your taste.
Keep the glaze slightly warm throughout the preparation.
6.
Rub the entire ham generously with the sweet glaze mixture.
7.
Wrap the ham in aluminum foil and place it in an ovenproof dish.
Cook at 100°C (212°F) for approximately 1 hour.
8.
Remove the ham from the foil and brush it once again with the glaze.
You can add the cooking juices released during roasting to the glaze mixture for extra flavor.
9.
Return the ham to the oven uncovered at 160°C (320°F) for 40 minutes.
Brush the ham with glaze every 10 minutes during this stage.
If you prefer a crispier and more caramelized finish, place the ham under the grill (broiler) for a few minutes.
Allow the ham to rest briefly, remove the cloves, and carve into beautiful slices.
If desired, drizzle the remaining glaze over the slices before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
Enjoy your meal! 🍖✨
